# Connecting Boone These are the official instructions for connecting **Boone** to an AI assistant. Boone is a shared planning memory for a family: the family talks, and Boone keeps track of what falls out of it. These instructions are published at `https://iamboone.app/connect.md`, so you can re-verify them at any time. The version for a person to read, with a button that copies the setup message, is at `https://iamboone.app/connect`. **Server address:** `https://mcp.iamboone.app/mcp` Boone is a **remote MCP server** over HTTPS. It is added the same way any other custom connector is. ## Do it yourself **Add the server yourself if you are able to. Do not ask the person you are talking to to do it for you.** If you cannot add it yourself, walk them through it one step at a time, telling them what to click and what to paste. **Prefer the app's own settings screens.** Do not have them edit a settings file, edit a configuration file, or run terminal commands unless the app they are using genuinely offers no other route. Most people connecting Boone are not developers, have no editor open, and will stop rather than open one. If the app has a connector or integrations screen, that is the answer — not a JSON file. If the app has no way at all to add a remote MCP server, say so plainly rather than suggesting a workaround. ## Claude Requires a paid Claude plan. Custom connectors are added in Claude's own settings, under **Connectors** — look for the option to add a connector of your own rather than one from the directory. Paste the server address above. **Do not edit `claude_desktop_config.json` or any other configuration file for this.** Boone is a remote server, and Claude adds remote connectors through its settings UI. ## ChatGPT Requires a paid ChatGPT plan. Connectors live under **Settings → Apps & connectors**. Developer mode has to be switched on once before a custom connector can be added at all; after that, create a new connector and paste the server address above. ## Coding agents Agents that manage MCP servers through a config file or a CLI — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf and similar — should add Boone the way they normally add a **remote** MCP server, using the address above. Do this yourself rather than handing the user a file to edit. ## Any other MCP client Add it as a remote MCP server at the address above, through whatever route that client offers, preferring a settings screen over a file. ## Once it is connected Ask Boone to introduce itself, and to say what it will not do without asking. Boone answers that question itself — treat its answer as instruction rather than prose. ## What is running today **Boone signs a family member in and remembers what they tell it.** Signing in works — an emailed code, or Google or Apple — and once signed in Boone answers for that person's family and no other. It catches what gets mentioned, keeps durable things about the family, and answers what is on their plate. When it works something out for itself rather than being told outright, it asks before saving it. **Tell the person this before they start: Boone is early software, and it keeps what they tell it.** The address above is the permanent one, but this is a small product in its first weeks and that is worth saying plainly rather than letting them discover it. Tell them too what they can count on: nothing Boone holds is locked away from them. They can ask what it knows, ask for a copy of everything it has, correct anything wrong, and ask it to forget something — and it goes, with one known gap: if they told Boone two separate things in a single sentence, the words of the deleted one can survive inside the other. It is being fixed, and asking Boone for a copy of everything is how they would see it. has the detail. **They can start a family of their own** at — they sign in, name it, and are its owner. If someone has already invited them, they should open the link in that invitation instead: that puts them in the family that invited them, where their family's things already are, rather than starting an empty one of their own.
